CLI connection examples

The general queue-creation syntax is:

Terminal window
codehost-config -c <queue-name> <path-to-ppd> -U <connection-uri>

Replace example hosts, paths, and credentials with those valid for your own installation. Use -c for queue creation and -U for the connection URI.

Terminal window
codehost-config -c office /path/to/printer.ppd -U lpd://printer.example/print
Terminal window
codehost-config -c office /path/to/printer.ppd -U ipp://printer.example/printers/office
Terminal window
codehost-config -c office /path/to/printer.ppd -U socket://printer.example:9100
Terminal window
codehost-config -c localusb /path/to/printer.ppd -U usb:/dev/usb/lp0
codehost-config -c localparallel /path/to/printer.ppd -U parallel:/dev/lp0
Terminal window
codehost-config -c psfile /path/to/printer.ppd -U file:/tmp/output.ps

File devices may be disabled by the underlying spooler. Some spoolers append data to existing output files instead of truncating them.

Specify the device path, baud, data bits, parity, and flow-control parameters in the URI:

serial:/dev/ttyS0?baud=9600+bits=8+parity=none+flow=soft

SMB printing requires Samba’s smbclient and the server and printer share names. Use the authentication method provided by your installed BrightQ-Pro and Samba versions. Keep passwords out of shell history, command arguments, and shared configuration.
