Glossary and terminology

Term	Meaning
BrightINSTALL	BrightQ-Pro installation component.
CUPS	Common UNIX Printing System, a printer and queue management system.
LPD / LPR	Traditional Berkeley network printing daemon and submission command.
IPP	Internet Printing Protocol.
SMB / CIFS	Network file/printer sharing protocols used by Windows/Samba.
PJM	Print Job Manager; controls printer selection and job options.
PPD	PostScript Printer Description, defining device-specific capabilities/options.
Print queue	Named job destination handled by the spooler.
Printer class	A group of queues presented under one destination where supported.
Spooler	Service that accepts and manages print jobs.
Raw mode	Bypasses normal conversion/filter processing.
SNMP	Simple Network Management Protocol, used for device status in some configurations.
CLP / CLF / CLN	Codehost License Package, License File, and License Number.
